The trips that defined my 20s

The Traveling Moore

Hey friend,

With my birthday this week, I’ve been feeling extra reflective. This year feels a little different because it’s my last year in my 20s, and when I look back, so many of the moments that defined this decade for me are tied to travel.

Not just where I went, but who I was with and what season of life I was in.

Here are a few of the trips that really shaped my 20s.

Bucket list trips I’ll never forget

These were the trips that reminded me how big the world is and how lucky I am to experience it.

Trips tied to big life moments

  • My first Europe trip with my now husband in our early 20s
  • Getting engaged in the Maldives
  • A mini moon in Cabo
  • A honeymoon split between Tokyo and Bali

These trips weren’t just vacations. They marked chapters of my life that I’ll always associate with those places.

Trips with friends and family

  • Almost-annual Thanksgiving cruises with my family
  • Chelan summers that somehow became a tradition
  • Cabo in college, complete with classic all-inclusive, college-girl chaos
  • Growing into more intentional, slower girls trips, like Belize

If my 20s taught me anything, it’s that travel looks different as you grow, and that’s a good thing.

Looking ahead
As I move into this next year, I want to keep travel centered around a few things:

  • Making memories with people I love
  • Prioritizing experiences over physical things
  • Saying yes to more weekend trips
  • Slowly planning the next round of bucket list adventures

I don’t feel pressure to travel more, just to travel well.

If you’re in a reflective season too, I hope this is a reminder that the trips that matter most aren’t always the biggest or farthest. They’re the ones that meet you exactly where you are.

Have a great week,

Lauren

The Traveling Moore Hey Reader, I’m back from Maui and it was one of those trips that reminded me exactly why I love that island so much. It was my friend’s first time in Maui, which made it even more special. There is something so fun about showing someone a place that means a lot to you and watching them fall in love with it in real time. We built a 5-day itinerary that mixed adventure, relaxation, and good food. And yes, we booked every hotel on Hyatt points. Here’s exactly what we did....

The Traveling Moore Hey Reader, I want to share something new I’ve been working on that you might not know about yet. I recently started a separate TikTok account called Lauren the Foodie. It’s a slightly different niche than the blog, but it actually fits really naturally with how I travel. When I’m on a trip, food is always a huge part of the experience. I’m constantly trying restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops, and random finds that don’t always make sense in a full blog post but are...

The Traveling Moore Hey Reader, I want to share something I started using recently that has completely changed how I shop for travel outfits. I realized I was stuck in the same cycle every time I planned a trip. I always felt like I needed at least one new outfit, sometimes more. I love fashion, but it started to feel expensive and unnecessary when so many pieces were only worn once and then forgotten in my closet. I still want something new and exciting for trips. That part of me is not...
